Vela

Vela: A constellation in the southern sky that was originally part of the larger Argo Navis constellation, representing the ship of Jason and the Argonauts in Greek mythology. It contains the Vela Supercluster and many bright stars, such as Gamma Velorum and Delta Velorum.
Multiple Star Systems: Many of the stars in Vela are complex multiple star systems, such as Gamma Velorum, which has a Wolf-Rayet star, and Delta Velorum, which is an eclipsing binary. Some of these systems also have planets orbiting them, such as HD 75289 and WASP-19.
Nebulae and Star Formation: Vela has several nebulae, such as the Gum Nebula, the Vela Supernova Remnant, and the Eight-Burst Nebula. These are regions of gas and dust where stars are born or die. Some of the young stars in Vela, such as HH-47, are ejecting material at high speeds into the surrounding space.
Star Clusters: Vela also has various star clusters, such as the Omicron Velorum Cluster, NGC 2670, and NGC 3201. These are groups of stars that are gravitationally bound and share a common origin. Some of these clusters have unusual properties, such as NGC 3201, which has an inhomogeneous stellar population.
