Indus: A constellation in the southern sky, first mapped by Europeans in the 1590s, representing an unspecified indigenous people.
Stars: Indus has no bright stars, but some notable ones include Alpha Indi (an orange giant), Epsilon Indi (a nearby orange dwarf with binary brown dwarfs), and Theta Indi (a binary star visible in small telescopes).
Deep sky objects: Indus contains some galaxies, such as NGC 7038, NGC 7049, and NGC 7090, and was the site of a superluminous supernova, ASASSN-15lh, in 2015.
History: Indus was created by Petrus Plancius from the observations of Pieter Dirkszoon Keyser and Frederick de Houtman, and first appeared in Johann Bayer's Uranometria in 1603.
