Canes Venatici

Canes Venatici: A small northern constellation created by Johannes Hevelius in the 17th century, named after the hunting dogs of Bo�tes the Herdsman.
Stars: The brightest star is Cor Caroli, named in memory of King Charles I of Britain. Other notable stars include Chara, a Sun-like star; La Superba, one of the reddest and brightest carbon stars; and several variable stars and binary stars.
Galaxies: The constellation contains five Messier objects, including four galaxies. The most famous is the Whirlpool Galaxy, the first galaxy recognized as having a spiral structure. Other spiral galaxies include the Sunflower Galaxy, M94, and NGC 4631.
Other objects: The constellation also contains the Giant Void, one of the largest voids in the universe; and Ton 618, a quasar with one of the most massive black holes ever measured.
