Bootes: A constellation in the northern sky, named after a Greek mythological figure of a herdsman or plowman.
History: One of the 48 constellations described by Ptolemy, and associated with various legends and cultures, such as Babylonian, Egyptian, Greek, Chinese, and Native American.
Features: Contains the fourth-brightest star in the night sky, Arcturus, and many other bright stars. Also includes several former or obsolete constellations within its boundaries.
